Hello happy last Wednesday of 2010 everyone! For those of you who are in the San Fransisco area, you simply must go to the De Young to check out 'To Dye For: A World Saturated in Color'(the exhibit is only up a couple more weeks so get there!). The exhibit features textiles from all over the world old and new. It's a breathtaking visual cross-cultural exploration of textile design from Asia, Africa and the Americas. I was the most taken by the stunning Uzbek Robes in gorgeous silk ikat. The extensive weaving and dying process of the Ikat motif made it a symbol of skill and prestige in the Uzbekistan culture. I am consistantly drawn to the large scale patterns in highly saturated hues and bold color combinations and seeing these ancient pieces in person only added to my admiration...

I'm clearly on a statement rug kick here lately but how could you not feel bright and happy with this shocking yellow underneath your feet? Pairing it with weathered leather in mahogany and forest green keeps the look classically chic while the hot pink accents add a little feminine drama.
