Just leap

Georgia O'keeffe
"When you're young, your whole life is about the pursuit of fun. Then you grow up and learn to be cautious, you could break and a bone or a heart. You look before you leap and sometimes you don't leap at all before there's not always someone there to catch you. And in life there's no safety net. When did it stop being fun and start being scary?" -Carrie Bradshaw

A new day

( Steve Greaves)
"Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion." -Thich Nhat Hanh

possibilities..

Change is a constant part of life. When I was young I feared and dreaded change, I got hurt when people around me changed and heartbroken whenever things ended. As I grew up I began to welcome change and even depend on it in a way. If things were hard I decided everything would be better once something changed then got terribly dissapointed when it turned out to not be the fix. Like everything in life, I have had to find a balance. I am learning to accept change, to embrace it with open arms while cherishing what has passed, and to simply be open to the possibilities of the present.
"We have more possibilities available in each moment than we realize." -Thich Nhat Hanh

All we need is LOVE

Today I'm inspired by love, by the way it connects us. I'm inspired by our ability to care so deeply and genuinely for another that we would do anything for that person. That we sometimes sacrifice our own happiness for the happiness of the ones we love, and how somehow, that is in the end what makes us the happiest. Love is truly the most beautiful part of life and it also the most accessible to all of us. Every being on earth can experience love just like the air we breath. Love is the thing that you're left with when it's all said and done, so let is be the thing you start with everyday.

Things are gonna get brighter..

"..someday we'll get it together and we'll get it undone
someday when the world is much brigther
someday we'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
someday when the world is much lighter.."

-Nina Simone

smiling at us

Van Gogh...
"In the historical dimension, the blossoms of the almond tree come and go with the warmth of spring; but in the ultimate dimension, even in the depth of winter and at any moment if we look deeply, we realize that the almond tree is full of blossoms." Thich Nhat Hahn
The person that we love is still here, he is around us, within us and smiling at us.

open to live, open to love

something my yoga teacher always says is that the hardest pose we do in life is to open up our hearts. Its a balancing pose, its a strengthening pose, and its a vulnerable pose. But in my experience, it's worth it. So open up your heart to something greater, open to live, open to love.

let it drip

Jackson Pollock..

A lot can be said about "Jack the Dripper", but today I want to focus on one thing. Pollock's drip paintings are a quintessential example of abstract expressionism, and of becoming one with your art. He would lay a canvas on the floor and for days he would add layer upon layer, walking on the canvas, drinking on the canvases and pour his soul out through the flick of his wrists. Whatever it is "your art" may be for you, let Pollock be an inspiration to fully and completely immerse yourself in it. Allow it to be the fullest expression of your being. Walk in it, live in it and poor your heart, your soul and maybe even your demons in it. And it may not be something that everyone will love. It may not be something that everyone will understand, but it will be something. It will be the journey, the process, the exhalation of your being, and that will truly be your art.

sit on it

in general I tend to make a point out of sitting on my ass as little as possible, but when the time does come, a perfect chair is absolutely key in a living space. And why not sit on something beautiful, innovative, and recycled? These chairs are at the SF MOMA and show generations of wooden chairs created by some of the most amazing artists and designers. But now days wooden chairs made from reclaimed and recycled wood are becoming more and more common and in beautiful shapes and textures. So...find one that gets you going, and sit on it.

electric feel

May your ideas today be fresh, edgy and electric and may your day be full of light.

new horizons

And a new chapter begins..
Someone I love recently told me, one of the most amazing things in life is how time keeps moving and we are given a whole new day, a new sunrise, a new opportunity to be and to love life a little more than we did the day before and when you one chapter ends you get to open the page to a brand new one which you've never read before.

Dream City

Paul Klee...

Contrasts between light and dark, contrast between shapes, all vibrating in a moody yet optimistic color pallette...this painting is telling my story right now

Women Are Bad Ass [Gustav Klimt]

Gustav Klimt....
Klimt, an Austrian painter that constantly celebrated the female body is one of my favorites. I love the juxtaposition of female empowerment and vulnerability. The women are always lavishly adorned in gold, patterns and florals.

More Diebenkorn Love...

I'm a huge fan of abstract art, particularly Abstract Expressionist art. I love the sort of stripped down feeling of Color Field work. What at first glance may seem rather simplistic reveals itself to be layers upon layers of elegantly composed color to evoke an overall feeling in the viewer.

Diebenkorn...

Richard Diebenkorn...I love anything that reminds me of the brightest of summer days out on the water...while still being abstract enough to draw your own conclusions. The colors just make me feel lighter...Enjoy!
