My Daylight: Art Show @ Free People Seattle

Happy Tuesday! I wanted to share some shots from my show earlier this month at Free People Seattle. It was so much fun mixing art with apparel and of course everyone loved having a glass of wine to sip on as they shopped. The store has a perfect little Sale room that we converted into our own mini gallery space for the evening. It was such a great collaboration that we want to do it again with more local artists in September! So calling all Seattle artists! If you love Free People, let us know and submit a few pieces of work that you feel represent your own personal style. We'll choose a handful of artists to show for another wonderful evening of art, wine, shopping and great company!
Hope you're all having an inspiring Summer, Enjoy!!

There will be free wine, TONS of amazing clothing on Sale (AND it will be an additional 25% off!!) and my paintings will up throughout the store for the evening...

If all goes well we're hoping to make this a monthly event so if you are a local Seattle artist and a fan of Free People, we want to hear from you as we'll be looking for a couple more artists to feature throughout the summer!! Hope to see you soon!!

My Daylight: Making the Sidewalk Happy

Happy Monday!! Working on a weekend isn't my favorite thing to do, but when the job is to spend the day drawing on the sidewalk, I'll take it! I parked myself outside of our downtown Seattle Free People store all day yesterday with a handful of chalk and a cup of coffee (of course) and made the sidewalk as bright as possible...

I pulled inspiration from our website and our merchandise and just let it unfold. It was so interesting to see people's reactions as they walked through it and a couple people even told me it made their day. Others, like this adorable little girl, were inspired to pick up a piece of chalk themselves and join in on the fun. It was a wonderful reminder of how much simple happiness art can bring. All in all, not a bad Sunday...Enjoy!

Photo Diary // Free People Manhattan Beach

A couple weeks ago Free People sent me to Southern California to add some Summer display details to a handful of our stores there and among them was one of the most beautiful locations I've been to yet, Manhattan Beach. The store is just blocks up from the boardwalk and I was in complete bliss as I sat in the sun soaked window ledge painting onto a view of the ocean...

I also got to decorate a surfboard, their version of our usual decorated bikes, which may just have been my favorite Free People project to date. And as you can see, I'm fully embracing our staple display accent color; hot pink...Enjoy!

Color Addiction: Chartreuse

I am seriously addicted to everything chartreuse right now. Radiating energy and optimism, I simply cannot get enough of it. I realized almost everything I have painted, photographed or purchased in the last month has been some shade of the acid bright hue...

My Daylight: To String a Mountain

You know the only thing I enjoy more than being crafty? Being crafty with a buddy! Last weekend my wonderful friend Jess [follow her on instagram here] and I got our craft on and I could not be happier with the end result. This was a completely collaborative effort [we actually switched off nailing and stringing] and it was kind of incredible to see the what two creative minds instead of one can produce organically...

We're both incredibly inspired by the mountains that surround us here so we made our own little version of our Olympic view with wood, nails and yarn. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon, I'm sincerely hoping this becomes a weekend tradition...Enjoy!

Love it / Live it: Ocean Blues

I've been starting to put together plans for my next show [details to come soon] and I got an extra kick of inspiration when I came across this little top that looks like the fabric is made from one of my own paintings! It is my in my favorite palette and having just spent the weekend on the beach in sunny SoCal, I've been again reminded how good the ocean blues can be for the soul so why fight it?

I cannot believe it is May already, can you?? I guess it's true what they say, time really does fly when you're having fun...Enjoy!

Colored Daylight // Gold + Grey + White

You all know how much I love color, but lately some of my favorite personal paintings have been the ones where I use almost no color at all. The metallic gold finish on a crisp white background with just a hint of tonal light throughout feels bright, cool and modern and seems to fit easily into any space at all...

I also believe this to be the perfect wardrobe choice for getting that sexy glow, even in the dead of winter. Or maybe I'm just trying to find a way to make the Seattle grey just a little warmer. Whatever it is, I can't get enough of this simple palette right now in my closet, on my walls and in my home...Enjoy!

My Daylight // Free People Austin, TX

Good Morning! Today I'm spending a few more hours in Austin, Texas before heading back home to Seattle and I can't tell you how sad I am to be leaving this awesome city after just 2 very short days. I stayed at what has been probably been my favorite hotel ever, Hotel San Jose, and got to work with the brilliant Southwest Free People Display artist, Trilby, on this big impact display moment in their local store...

...in my opinion, marking tape and string has never looked so good. And don't you think Trilby did an unbelievable job transforming this old bike into a gorgeous Spring inspiration?! Austin, I barely knew you, but I dare say I hope we meet again, very soon. South by Southwest perhaps?? Enjoy!
