Art + Interiors: Natural Flow [Jill Lorraine]

Today I'm inspired by the flowing paintings of Jill Lorraine. I love the way her organic palettes and natural rhythms make you wonder whether you're looking at paint or at a microscopic image of something found in nature. I chose a few of my favorite pieces that are reminiscent of where the ocean meets the sand...

While each canvas is completely saturated with color, there is an overwhelming sense of light coming through in all or her work that is absolutely breathtaking. And if you're looking to bring that same organic elegance into your home...

A mix of organic textures and soft ocean accents, combined with flowing silhouettes makes for a calming minimal space, worthy of dreaming or working...Enjoy!

I want to live in...A Scout Designs Interior

Today I'm inspired by the modern bohemian interiors of Scout Designs. The design duo blends vintage and modern seamlessly, adding a mix of worldly accents in absolutely gorgeous palettes...
I love the warm neutrals and the mixing of patterns and textures in this space.

Green and gold always feels luxurious and I love how the unexpected pairing of the combo on weathered wood floors.

More and more lately I'm loving clean white walls. They allow for each and every shape and texture to create the color story of the room. This space has an understated elegance that draws on the elements beautifully. As much as I love a bold interior, it takes an incredible eye and attention to detail to create a space that doesn't use color to set the tone...Enjoy!

Art + Interiors: Welcoming Fall [Jan Groenhart]

I'm spending the weekend in Seattle and it finally feels like fall. The leaves are starting to change in brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow, the air is brisk and wet, and every coffee shop is full with people huddled over hot cups of joe. I love fall, I've loved all the warm conversations with my closest friends over lots of coffee surrounded by so much love, and I absolutely love these paintings by artist Jan Groenhart...

I love the faintest hint of a landscape amidst the rich colors and textures, the way they seem to embody fall without the depiction of leaves at all. I can't take my eyes off the glowing persimmon foreground in the second piece, and again I'm inspired to conceptualize an interior with these same qualities...

Live in it...

Get the feeling of fall by mixing reclaimed, unfinished wood pieces with painterly fall brights. I also love mixing an arrangement of end tables that reference each other in shape while remaining organic and light hearted. The grey chair reminds me of a cozy fall coat while the bamboo pendant would bring in loads of warmth on an otherwise gloomy day. I would snuggle up with a hot cup of tea and a good book for an afternoon of rejuvenation in this fall inspired space. Enjoy!

Truly Organic

In a world where we are obsessed with having the next biggest thing, the newest innovation, constantly throwing away the old to make room for the new, we tend to forget that all we throw away doesn't just go away. It creates waste. So when I found Urban Hardwoods, a company that diverts old and torn down trees from the landfill and instead makes them into new furniture, I was ecstatic. Their mission is to cherish the trees and give them new life as a table top, a head board, a side table, you name it. The company is absolutely sustainable by nature and every product is stunningly gorgeous. Based in Seattle you can find a piece in any shade you can find a tree in. http://www.urbanhardwoods.com/
