DIY Northwest: Nightstand Revived

Good morning! Have you been over to Apartment 34 to enter in the giveaway yet? Thank you so much to each and every one of you who have already entered and written such kind and encouraging words, it truly means the world to me. I can't wait to see my painting hanging in someone's home!

Now, as much as I love modern furniture, nothing beats taking someone else's trash and reviving it to create a one of a kind piece to fit your home...

Black just isn't my color so after finding this little cabinet at our local Good Will, I picked the brightest turquoise in the aisle and gave it one light coat for a traveled and weathered look. I then found some great vintage brass hardware to add some interest and functionality and now it lives happily right next to our bed. Happy thrifting everyone..Enjoy!

I want to live in...A Scout Designs Interior

Today I'm inspired by the modern bohemian interiors of Scout Designs. The design duo blends vintage and modern seamlessly, adding a mix of worldly accents in absolutely gorgeous palettes...
I love the warm neutrals and the mixing of patterns and textures in this space.

Green and gold always feels luxurious and I love how the unexpected pairing of the combo on weathered wood floors.

More and more lately I'm loving clean white walls. They allow for each and every shape and texture to create the color story of the room. This space has an understated elegance that draws on the elements beautifully. As much as I love a bold interior, it takes an incredible eye and attention to detail to create a space that doesn't use color to set the tone...Enjoy!

Love it / Live it: Well Traveled Vintage [Sasha Maksutenko]

Happy Monday readers!! I am a bit of a vintage fiend, and though usually I like to be the finder, scouring thrift stores, sifting through bins of throwaways hoping to uncover that amazing piece that someone thoughtlessly discarded, I have to admit, sometimes it's nice to have someone else do the sifting for you. Well that is exactly what Sasha Maksutenko has done, and sure shop is filled with only the best vintage finds...
She has an amazing eye for vintage jewelry and all things gold, oversized and ornamented. I've picked some of my absolute favorite pieces that seem to channel ancient textiles from all over the world. When it comes to jewelry, I love anything gold and chunky with a touch of color. One of these pieces would be a perfect way to turn a plain T and pair of jeans into a one-of-kind outfit...

Mrs. E just snatched up that killer gold and black piece [and I can't wait to see how she styles it!] but there is much more where that came from my friends so you better get on over there and find the one trashed piece destined to be your treasure...Enjoy!

p.s. check out my brand new ad button over on my side bar created by the uber talented Amy of Strataflora. Thanks, Amy you are insanely good!

My Daylight 4.15.11

Hello and happy Friday readers! As promised today I'm sharing a little of what inspires me outside of my trusty laptop. First of all it was high time to get back into the silk screen studio I left behind when I headed down south a couple years ago. I've missed it dearly and am finally beginning the process of setting up a new space in our basement so I can start printing again...
I perused downtown's Pacific Galleries, an antique co-op with booth after booth of amazing vintage finds. The floor is lined with gorgeous rugs in intricate patterns and bright palettes. This is absolutely the place to go for unique, quality pieces that you won't see anywhere else. I could spend way too many hours in this place...
On Monday Jake and I saw an amazing show at the Showbox Market, and though it was a bit late for me on a week night, it was completely worth it. The Naked and Famous killed it and absolutely lived up to their expectation of being this Summer's breakout band and the Foals put on a show that took their ethereal sound to the next level.
This weekend I'm hoping to make it down to the Seattle Art Museum for a visit before accompanying Kelley at a Fashion Face-off at Macy's downtown. There is still time to RSVP so if you're in the area I'd love to see you there! Otherwise have a fabulous weekend and ENJOY!!

Deerhunter- He Would Have Laughed (Unofficial Video)

'he would have laughed' on deerhunter's new album is soothing but also a song you can tap your foot to. the video is not wonderful but the song was a perfect fall day song. looking out my window at the yellow red orange and green, this song was the music video for a falling leaf. so put on some boots pile up the leaves and jump!

Art + Interiors: Polished Vintage...

I stumbled upon this gorgeous photography while perusing Etsy and I just fell in love. I love the weathered, golden, vintage feel to them. They emit warm, relaxation with a healthy sense of wonder. I feel like I could just hop on that Vespa and ride on through the sunset without a care in the world.

And I have to say, there is something to the mix of black, brown and gold that I absolutely adore. Whether in attire or interior, the palette reads indie chic that can be easily polished with a little addition of chrome to pull the whole thing together. I love this look for a down-to-earth sophisticate who hasn't lost their sense of adventure. Mix in a few personal souvenirs and you've got a warm and polished place to call home. Enjoy!
